What is StrategyPrime?

StrategyPrime is a an independent, non-profit portal dedicated to our great affection, strategy games. Real-time or turn-based, grand or small in scale, regardless of the platform they come from, we love them all. But also, being dedicated gamers, we love other genres too, so we will be covering them in news and reviews as well. Basically, if its “got game”, we’ll be on it, and if there is strategy required, we got it covered.

StrategyPrime is primarily being run by “Count Vlad the Impaler” or otherwise known as Voigtkampf, a busy fella with 20+ years of gaming experience, professional IT journalist with a decade of experience of reviewing games for various magazines and portals. There is also a “fistful” of other guesting independent authors, all gamers with jobs, obligations and families. Yeah, we are older crowd (for gaming terms). Most of us know what it means to be forced to pay a fine for not rewinding your VHS tape to the beginning before returning it to the video store.

What do you mean exactly with “independent authors”?

To put it in layman’s terms, we are in nobody’s pocket. As cynical as it may sound, the reality is that the vast majority of today’s reviewing magazines and portals basically depend from the very same people they write about. Publishing bad reviews means alienating your major customers that advertise through your magazine/portal, and is overall a very bad idea – as far as the finances go. We’ve seen it happen so often that it becomes a perfectly natural thing, with reviewers and critics being fired for writing bad reviews. The others fall in line soon enough. However, such practices don’t go unnoticed by the audience, and they are withdrawing their support to the “lackey” magazines and portals that, after all, act more as PR channels for big developer companies and their publishers rather than being independent and objective critics.

Can I contribute my guide to your site?

Most definitely. If you have written a guide and would like to see it hosted, contact us via this form. The guide doesn’t need to be necessarily for strategy games, it can also be a guide for MMO’s, RPG’s or even shooters, for that matter!
